Maybelline Creamy Matte Brown Nudes in Nude Nuance

The last time I bought a lipstick from Maybelline was when I was still in law school. It was one of those glossy pastel colors, which I never got to finish. Aside from the fact that the color was horribly off against my skintone (or so I  thought), it emphasized the lines and dryness of my mouth. EEEK!

Years later, I discovered the formula of high end lipstick and  thought that was the end of the story. Bow. No not yet. Haha. Thanks to one of my bffs Donna, who recently gave a tube of Maybelline Colorsensational Matte Vivids,  I re-discovered Maybelline and its lipsticks. I’ve read reviews regarding Maybelline Creamy Mattes but wasn’t convinced until I tried it on my lips. Medyo kadiri naman diba if I use the testers on my lips so no matter how pretty the shades looked, no way was I testing ‘em on my lips. I loved Revlon Matte Balms btw and honestly thought no drugstore matte can top that.

To my luck, after Donna gave me the lipstick, Maybelline Colorsensational went on sale! Add this to fact that National Lipstick day was around the corner that time, so can you imagine how hard it was for me to pass up on all the lipstick goodness?!

How’s my experience with the Creamy Mattes?

Life Update

I have quite a lot on my plate now so I'm cutting back from social interactions. I’m afraid I might do something wrong or hurt someone given that I’m not so much myself these days. I’ve already managed to make a number of people close to me upset, unintentionally of course, so I must barricade or isolate myself first. But just to unload and share with you how I’ve been coping, here’s what I’m up to lately:

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Jane

I've stopped posting as much as I want because I cut back on my makeup purchases. As for skincare and other results targeted products, I don't really have before and after pictures, so what's the point of posting a review right? haha.

Anyway, the last time I bought a lipstick was way back in January (kala mo naman ang tagal na?) haha but it seriously felt like FOREVER! I mean really, even if I don't like Kylie Jenner, I don't live under a rock to not notice her lips plastered everywhere. It makes me want to apply and reapply (press repeat) my lipstick to make my lips look muy perfecto!

I don't know what's up with me but as of the moment MAC lipsticks do not appeal to me, Saying (or typing rather) it out loud made me feel like I committed a heinous crime haha. If you read my past entries, I am so very particular with lipsticks. I have the following as my criteria:
ease of applying (it has to last! no need for concealer, lipliner and all other seremonyas) and reapplying (no need to wipe off to re-do entire lip),
how it fades (no dreaded lip liner effect please!),
moisture (no need to apply lip balm),

so you can just figure out I've managed to eliminate almost every lipstick brand on the market hahaha!

I avoid spur of the moment purchases and make sure I've read enough reviews to justify a purchase.

So okay here's  another thing: I do splurge on lipsticks. So I make sure I end up with something that I would really finish to the last bit. And I wait for at least a month after settling on a brand and color before buying just to gauge how much I really like it. Hahaha. See, I'm still pretty hard on myself.

Long story short, NARS Audacious made the cut. I still have Brigitte and Anna on my stash but want another neutral color but one that pops.

Tokyo Japan 2016 Drugstore Beauty Haul

Hello everyone!

It's been a month since I went to Tokyo, the Land of All Things Cute!!! Hehehe.

I fell in love with Tokyo so so much that i wanted to go back even before we left Narita Airport .

And while almost every person I know was raving about authentic Japanese cuisine, I was actually pining for Japanese beauty products. Well, the food was totally good-- but well, priorities. Haha. I got by just fine eating food from 7-11 and Family Mart there.

So I'm showing you my haul from Don Quijote, Matsumoto Kiyoshi and a Japanese drugstore that has no English name/ translation. No high end products here but I made sure that all items i got were Made in Japan.

Innisfree Ultra Fine Browcara

I used to think that eyebrow mascaras are all the same. The cheaper, the better! As long as the color matches my hair and it combs my brow in place, I'm sold.

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Boudoir

Hello everyone!

It's already the LOVE month <3 font="">

To give myself a pat on the back for a practically (not absolutely) makeup free haul last 2015, I rewarded myself with a lipstick. I've thought about this for weeks before taking the plunge. Haha. I just didn't want to end up not liking a lipstick after buying it. And this particular lipstick is not exactly cheap.

Jason Restorative Biotin Shampoo

It's been ages since I've written here!!! :0 The entire holiday season just went by and now we're almost done with January 2016!

Actually, I cannot believe that I forgot my password for blogger! With social media accounts, online banking, email, work account, etc. it just got lost somewhere in my brain. I try to shuffle passwords every now and then and I also avoid using one password on all accounts for security reasons. I usually write the codes in a "safe database" so I won't forget, but maybe I had a little lapse.. It took a while and a bit of sleuthing skills to recover my account here. Whew!

As I have announced before, I AM on a makeup shopping "regulation". Not really an absolute ban but I think HARD now before purchasing makeup and try to let the impulse-buying mood pass before I dive in. I think I was quite successful last 2015 so what I'm posting today is NOT about makeup but hair care.

My hair texture is very FINE. I don't get split ends because the strands are so THIN, there's nothing to split down the middle. Really. But before you all think I am so lucky, I get frazzled ends in lieu of split ends. Not a pretty sight. Another disadvantage of fine hair is that it is THIN hair. so any kind of hair fall makes it look MORE obvious. It was then that I shifted to organic hair thickening shampoos.

I've been using JASON RESTORATIVE BIOTIN SHAMPOO for about 3 months now and am about to finish my first bottle.

I admit that I cheat every now and then and use commercial shampoos (like on weekends) because I crave for the smooth feeling of silicones on my hair. HAIR OIL doesn't cut it. Even if I use argan oil or whatever oil I have around, I still love the feeling of freshly commercial-shampoo shampooed hair haha. This does the job of cutting down the numbers of falling hair strands but doesn't make additional strands sprout on my scalp. I also tweaked the formula to make it more moisturizing because sulfate- free shampoos just feel dry. Instead of using conditioner, I added Human Heart Nature sunflower oil inside the bottle. VOILA! No more dry hair! Additionally, the texture of the shampoo takes some time getting used to--it is too watery. More often than not, I pour so much more than I need. It also does not lather that much, so I take more time massaging the shampoo from scalp to ends to ensure I get the strands covered and cleaned up.

Will I repurchase? YES. Because less falling hair is one thing I don't want to worry about. I am not sure what Biotin does when applied topically, like in this case, but I don't want to experiment and lose hair. I think it would stop falling hair (and be mindful of not combing or touching your hair so much), but it won't make you grow additional strands.

Available at Healthy Options, 437ml for around P400php.
