Clean & Clear Active Clear Speed Clearing Gel

I'm back to the bloggers' world after a while. I guess I'm just to lazy too take pictures, find a decent one, then watermark then post.. you know what I mean. Ok enough about the rigors of blogging hehe.

You may have seen my previous posts regarding my problematic right cheek, where pimples just won't stop appearing! whenever one is about to heal, a new one emerges, bigger, redder and stronger! Thank God for concealers because not even the most potent whitening soap can remove the marks since the pimples won't give my skin enough time to heal.

I've used just about all pimple removing products out there. Cyleina tomato soap. Check. Pond's Antibacterial Scrub. Check. St. Ives Apricot Scrub (the one for pimples. Check. Garnier Pure A             moisturizer, mask, spot gel. Check. Panoxyl. Check. Cetaphil. Check. Eskinol facial wash, derma clear facial cleanser, spot gel. Check.. The list won't stop. it's so frustrating!

My friend recommended Clean & Clear Active Clear Speed Clearing Gel like for the past year or so. She claims this truly works in busting out pimples. But this product is so hard to find. I see Clean &Clear Facial wash, toner, moisturizer and even the whole set but NOT this spot gel alone.

Luckily, I spotted this last week at the SM MOA Department Store (not the separate Watson's stores). I immediately grabbed one even though I'm using panoxyl right now.
This product claims to zap zits within 4 hours. I think like other problematic girls, I fell for that line. Hehehe.

Price: P139.75 at SM MOA Department Store

Product Description: Reduces pimple symptoms fast. The fast acting micro-gel formula starts to clear pimples 4 hours after application. The breakthrough salicylic acid and botanical formula works to reduce the symptoms of acne fast.
Reduces redness and size: 4 hours after application
Reduces swelling- 8 hours after application

The product at first appears as a translucent white gel that becomes clear when it dries. There's a mild tingling sensation upon application and you may experience some itchiness.

What I like:
-well, it works but not as fast as it claims. Pretty much an ordinary pimple gel.

What I don't like:
- i can get its cheaper version: Eskinol Pimple gel which has the same texture.
- i can't apply this over or under makeup, without the pimple looking too obvious, since the gel can make the bump appear bigger as it sort of coats the bump with a micro film of salicylic acid, and you can rub/ peel the gel off.
- the redness did not subside

Overall, it works. But maybe I had extraordinary expectations based on its description. My HG Spot gel s not yet found. The quest continues...

EDIT: I'm really liking this now. After a week of usage, the pimples are healing up nicely. I guess I expected them to dry up and peel off. But this stuff works slowly without drying them, just made them shrink slowly. In the one week that I've used it, I can say this worked far better than Panoxyl gel which I used for three weeks. My spots look visibly lighter now without me going through the whole flaky process. Also, I realized that I can in fact use this under makeup, just apply it and rub it in slowly, the gel gets absorbed and does not peel off when dry.

Ellana Concealer in Awake

I've been quite vocal about my love for Ellana's Concealer in Awake.

Take a look at these pictures and you'll see why I love it to bits.

After 1 year and 3months, here's my 2.5g sifter jar of concealer in Awake. My P190 is so sulit!

Here's my washed face just before I go to sleep at night. Like I've mentioned in my previous posts, I'm having a pimple attack. But the eruptions are pretty much confined to the right side of my face. It's because I sleep on my right side and no matter how much I try to sleep without my face  hitting the pillow, I still find myself waking up in the morning on my right side. I tie my hair but it's no use. I don't know how it even started! I've been sleeping on my right side for as long as I can remember but these pimples appeared only when I reached my 20's.

Here's my face after a little makeup. I used the following:

-Skinfood's Salmon Dark Circle concealer under my eyes
-Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint in red for my cheeks and
-Ellana Concealer in Awake for my spots.
-No foundation/BB cream/face powder for this picture. My skin appears more sunkissed than my nighttime picture because I took this one near a window during lunch time.

You can actually see where I applied the concealer because they appear so much lighter than the rest of my face. The reason is that I used a wet brush to apply Ellana's concealer and haven't blended it out yet. After blending and face powder, it looks more natural. Can you see the big difference?

Cyber Safety --PLS READ!

Hi girls! Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I made my last post. I got so busy with school and spent every free time sleeping, reading blogs and making changes to my facebook account. I got so many things to tell you so first things first.

I want to warn you all, so read very very carefully.
I know everyone here is taking measures to protect his/her facebook/blogger/friendster/twitter/multiply account. Maybe all your settings were geared towards privacy by changing the default "Viewed by Everyone" settings to "Friends Only", or maybe you swore to keep your passwords to yourself, refrain from adding anonymous/unknown/suspicious people to your friends list or maybe you don't check your accounts using public computers to avoid being hacked.

I did just the same. In fact, I reject a lot of invitations from other people. I don't add anyone that I do not know to my facebook account. I don't want to be just their "pamparami ng friends" (addition to your friends list to show everyone you've got quite a number of friends) My principle is "do not add me if you don't know me just because you think I can be an addition to your growing number of friends, which you are doing so that other people will be impressed when they see you have a multitude of people as friends, when in fact we don't know each other." But still, to my dismay, my facebook account was compromised. Here's how it happened:

Two weeks ago, I checked my facebook account using our own computer. I saw an invite from my good friend C. It was her second facebook account. I checked the profile and saw that it was overflowing with her pictures, taken with friends and family. It looked legitimately hers so I confirmed the invite. Just last week however, I received a text message from my cousin, where she asked me if I made a second facebook account. I said no. She told me that another "Chas" with my pictures, with my albums uploaded, was inviting her to be her facebook friend. I immediately searched facebook and VOILA! there's indeed a second "Chas" with more than a hundred friends. The impostor was even adding MY real account's friends. I quickly posted a shoutout telling people to reject the second Chas' invite and delete that from their list asap. I was so worried not just because there's someone else posing as CHAS. My real concern is that the poser might try to contact my friends using the online chat/message to "borrow" money as me, or try to elucidate information from my friends, or meet them in secret posing as me to kidnap/harrass/commit other criminal acts against them.

Hey I don't want to exaggerate but imagine this. If your friend suddenly goes online and asked for your help, there's a chance you might help her right? No matter how small. If she chats with 50 of her online friends, at least 1 would respond to her call, right? Our being cyber-savvy is now being used by criminals against us!

I reported the poser Chas' page to Facebook and to my relief, the fake Chas' page has been removed from Facebook 24 hours later. I kept on thinking how someone could have access to my pictures, since my profile can only be viewed by my friends, who are not psychos to make a fake profile page. That got me thinking, bringing me back to adding my friend C's invite. I sent her a message in YM. She was so surprised to learn that she had a 2nd facebook account which invited me because she made NO SECOND ACCOUNT! See how the culprit works?! My friend C has a fake facebook page, WHICH ADDED ME and that paved the way for the culprit to view my profile and copy my pictures, so now he can pose as C and Chas to all our friends!!

The bad guy knows no one would add him if he used his real identity so he started making fake profiles of YOUR FRIENDS so you won't suspect a thing and confirm his invite. That way, even if you set your page to "Viewed by friends Only" He can see your page! HE BECAME YOUR FRIEND ALREADY AND HE CAN SEE YOUR POSTS, PICTURES, EVERYTHING!!! He makes you feel safe because you think only your friends can see your posts and pics, but NO, you can't be too safe because you already added this person to your CIRCLE OF FRIENDS.

It has been shown in the Tyra Banks' Show that a lot of psycho people can trace where we are/ where we live/ hang out / office by just checking our status, shoutouts, pictures and careless posts EVEN IF you don't post your HOME address or phone number. Tyra even made an experiment where they actually got to trace a myspace user's whereabouts through her myspace page. She was so surprised because she firmly believed that she's safe from cyber psychos since she doesn't post her personal infos. I'm telling you guys, if the poser is criminal minded, he can think of creative, varieties just to lure victims such as posing as your friend.

So bloggers, do not just add the 2nd accounts of your friends to your friends list. Verify first if they indeed made a second facebook profile because you won't want to be his victim or if not, your friend who unsuspectingly confirms an invitation from "you"...

I want a loot from Ellana!!

I've recently organized my makeup drawers and voila! Came out a lot of makeup products I've already forgotten about. I sold some of my prized possessions in Girltalk, eventhough I want to keep them for myself. It's so hard to sell my precious items at a portion of the purchase price. Well, if I can't finish them, might as well let them find new homes before they expire. Now, that's even worse!

After sorting through the drawers, makeup pouches and boxes...I now have more makeup space! Here comes an itch to fill them up again. Right now, I am dying to go back to MMU! Ellana is real love for me. I used up the trial sized foundation I bought a year ago and loved it to bits. I am about to hit the pan (pot might be the more appropriate term) for Awake concealer. You must try it. It's perfect for my underyes (blend it well or you'll get reversed-raccoon eyes which happened to my sister!!) and for the spots I am concealing. I also use it as a foundation and brush it all over my face. For the blush, I have a long way to go before I can finish my 2.5g pot in Fulfillment, since it's very pigmented and I have no sense of loyalty when it comes to blushes. I rarely use this because I'm more of a cheek tint girl.

Right now, I want to try Ellana lip tint in Lovestruck. This retails for only P150

I also want to buy another jar of Awake concealer. I am just a bit skeptical about it right now beacuse I've read reviews that Ellana changed their formulation. I'll have to go to SM Makati and see for myself! I hope they did not change the formulation. I love my Awake concealer. It is perfect as is!

Peaches and Cream

I love love love peach blushes! When I use them, I don't have rosy cheeks but I look healthy and radiant. It's perfect for a no-makeup look especially when I'm going to school. They make me look glow-y and happy even when in reality I am so haggard. I think they are perfect for summer as well, the "bronzer" for the fair skinned because the shade won't look muddy at all.

Here's my small collection:

1. Ellana mineral blush in fulfillment

2. In2it gel blush in peach blush
3. Body Shop Shimmerwaves in peach

4. 4U2 Chic Couple 2 Color Silky Blush No.06

5. Maybelline Mineral Power Naturally Luminous Blush in True Peach

6. Skinfood Chic Choc Cream Blush

7. Skinfood Chic Color Pan

Thanks for dropping by!

The Body Shop- Delipscious Lip Balm

Okay. This is NOT a product review. But this caught my eye while I was browsing through The Body Shop website. I am on the hunt for tinted lip balm as lipsticks have lost their touch on me. I have seen Healthy Options', organic lip balms, mineral lip tints and to name a few. Honestly nothing caught my fancy. Something always turns out to be wrong, the scent, the color or the glide can put me off. Not even Burts Bees' tinted lip balms (which by the way, made my lips peel even worse!) reached my standard! I have my trusty old Nivea Strawberry Lip Balm which gives a lovely light red sheen, however, I want something organic.

The Body Shop's Delipscious Lip Balm is pure eye candy. The packaging is luxe and each lip balm costs $10, I don't know if this is already available in the Philippines. The line has four flavors to choose from: Peach Crush, Watermelon Crush, Berry Crush and Papaya Crush

From the website :

New! Best if you want to: Hydrate your lips and add a hint of color with a moisturizing lip balm with a fruity flavor made from food-grade ingredients, including natural watermelon and raspberry seed oils.
Best for: all skin tones How it works:
  • Organic, virgin, cold-pressed Community Trade coconut oil moisturizes and softens skin, while helping to replenish moisture levels.
  • Community Trade organic beeswax from Zambia helps moisturize and condition lips.
  • Community Trade cocoa butter, an excellent moisturizer that melts at body temperature, is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants.

If you have seen these lip balms here in the Philippines, please tell me! I want to see them soon!

Thanks for reading,

Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Instant Perfecting Cream (BB Cream)

Hello everyone!
I am here again rediscovering one product I've bought last year. I realized I kept on reaching out for this BB Cream this summer Read on to find out why!

For 299Php (like $6). It sounds like it's really cheap but it contains only 18ml so that's a little amount, just like a trial sized product. It comes in a squeeze-out tube.

From the label:
Our instant Skin Perfecting Cream is a perfect blend of 8 mineral ingredients. The unique earth color shade instantly improves and perfects your skin:
- Brightens skin
- Covers imperfections
- Moisturizes
- has  SPF 26/+++

I say:
Don't be fooled. It's not a mineral BB cream! Look at the ingredients!

Maybelline is joining the "Mineral Makeup" Bandwagon but you can see it's not really a mineral makeup. I still bought it though because I want to try out BB creams. Maybelline is also now joining the BB cream craze!

 I like:
- it's lightweight finish
- it's not creamy, it's quite runny- the consistency's the same as liquid foundations
- it has SPF!
- non-oily
- brightens my skin even though it has no shimmer particles
- very handy, you can drop this in your purse anytime!
- gives a matte finish

What I don't like:
- limited to one shade only which is "fresh". Thank God, it blends well with my skintone. I don't know if people with morena skin tone can pull off the shade because the shade is light.
- if you're looking for a BB cream with more coverage, this is NOT for you. Coverage is minimal, can cover slight imperfections only
- after an hour, my t-zone gets shiny even when I applied loose powder after the BB cream (  sweat a lot though, this may not be the case for you)
- What is a BB cream really? I think this is more of a tinted moisturizer with SPF. A BB Cream's supposed to heal/whiten/lessen wrinkles, etc., right?

Here are some of my pictures without and with the BB Cream:
The pictures were taken without flash.

Without the BB: Excuse my pores, I wasn't wearing ANY makeup.

With the BB cream, without powder.
   (I don't like my moles!!)
Yes, I like the product as a tinted moisturizer, best for warm and humid days. But not enough for a BB Cream. The hunt for the best BB Cream continues!!!

Etude House Aqua Sherbet Lotion Review

I got some items from Etude House last year and early this summer, but sorry I forgot the exact prices and can't even find the receipt!

Here are the products:
Aqua Sherbet lotion
Blackhead Gommage
Fresh Cherry Tint
Retractable Lip Liner
Secret Beam Highlighter in Pink Mix

I'm doing a review on the Aqua Sherbet Lotion first since I'm much more into skin care this summer after my skin was ravaged by pimples first by my stressful final exams followed by this unbearable heat. This is a facial moisturizer which promises to cool down your skin and make it feel refreshed. It costs P300+ available from Etude House.

From the website:
Concept: Alaskan glacial water meets grapefruit
Description: Absorbs quickly into skin with a light and smooth sensation

Aqua sherbet contains mineral rich glacial water from Alaska and vitamin rich grapefruit water to supply skin cooling complexion care. Lotion replenishes and restores moisture balance to complexion.

Active ingredient:
Alaskan glacial water and grapefruit water

Directions: Following serum application, use hands to apply lotion to all areas of face and neck.

I only bought the lotion from the Aqua Sherbet line (The line provides for  a toner and other products too and apply it after using my Pond's  toner.

I like:
- lightweight non-greasy feel is perfect for oily skin
- leaves skin smooth and soft, well hydrated
- light fresh, fruity scent (label says it has grapefruit)
- has cooling effect, ideal for this scorching heat
- 150ml, the bottle is big, will probably last for a long time
- texture is watery but I think it's just right because it feels like applying water on your skin

SA's recommend to use this after a day out in the sun to cool the skin and minimize redness due to sun exposure.

I don't like:
-the packaging, although it is attractive, the round glass bottle is so heavy and not practical to bring along with you during trips
- the opening on the bottle is quite big, prone to spillage and you have to be careful in pouring out the content so that only a little amount will come out

- some people with sensitive nose might have a problem with its fragrance

Overall, I love this product! This is an HG product for the summer especially if you are oily-skinned!

Avon Ideal Shade Dual Powder Foundation

Hi girls,
I'm back with another review for Avon Ideal Shade Dual Powder Foundation.

I bought this for P199 last February. It was on sale so I rushed to order this! I got this in Nude, which the brochure claims to be the lightest shade.

Product details:
-SPF 15
- 9g
- Regular price is P499
- It is available in 3 shades only: Pure Beige, Nude and Shell

I like:
- It has SPF 15, even though the SPF content is low, better to have some than none at all
- It has separate compartment for sponge.

Tip: I like keeping an oil blotting sheet inside the compartment on top of the sponge so I won't forgot to blot the oil first before re-applying the powder throughout the day. It works for me better that way.

I don't like:

- minimal coverage for a powder foundation. It works just like a pressed powder only
- limited selection of shade. I chose the lightest according to the brochure, it is still a shade or two darker than my skin tone.

Overall, I won't repurchase. I like In2it's powder foundation way better than this one!

That's all for now! I've got assignments to do. God bless and thanks for reading =)
